Job Description:

This role is peripatetic, based in Southern England, with a mix of remote work and visits to Salvation Army sites. Regular travel across Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, and Wiltshire is required, with occasional wider travel across Central & Southern England, Wales, and the Channel Islands.

Working hours: Minimum 35 hours per week

Job Summary:

The Salvation Army Regional Team seeks an Assistant Regional Accountant to support their financial management and decision-making processes across various corps and divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and guide corps officers, finance locals, and corps in fiscal responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
  • Conduct financial monitoring visits to assess support needs and risks
  • Monitor budgets, investigate variances, and report concerns
  • Report on charity shops, cafes, and similar activities
  • Monitor mission support and report on outcomes
  • Ensure adherence to finance procedures

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience explaining finance issues to non-finance personnel
  • Experience in management accounting
  • Willingness to travel; a driving license is essential
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within The Salvation Army’s Christian ethos and values: integrity, accountability, compassion, passion, boldness, and respect
