North Ayrshire Council is offering temporary clerical roles aimed at helping parents gain valuable skills and experience. The positions are funded by the Scottish Government, providing training and support in a professional environment. Successful candidates will undergo mandatory training at Ayrshire College, focusing on essential office skills. This role is part-time, with a commitment of 20 hours per week, and pays at the Real Living Wage. Interviews will be conducted in May 2025, with a start date expected in August 2025.
Temporary for 26 weeks.

Interviews may be in person or via Microsoft Teams. A device with a camera and internet access is required. Guidance will be provided for virtual interviews.

North Ayrshire Council is creating temporary roles within the Skills for Life - Clerical programme across various services. Funded by Scottish Government, these placements aim to help parents gain training, skills, and experience within the council. The placements are 26 weeks, 20 hours/week, paid at the Real Living Wage (£12.60/hour).
Preferred knowledge/experience includes Microsoft Office and/or office environment work. Interviews will be face-to-face, with scheduling after application review and eligibility check. Successful applicants will be invited for interviews on 20th/21st May 2025.
Participants will be registered with the We Work for Families Project to ensure eligibility, requiring ID and support service meetings.
Successful candidates must attend Pre-Employment Training at Ayrshire College (3 days/week, 10am-2pm, 26th May - 20th June), covering Excel, Office, and Keyboard Skills. This training is mandatory.
During placement, study towards SVQ2 Business Administration. PVG clearance may be required.
Expected start: 25th August 2025.
Registration includes completing forms and PVG paperwork. ID requirements include Passport or full birth certificate, proof of N.I. number, and proof of address.

PVG/Level 1 Disclosure
Some roles are regulated work with children and/or vulnerable adults under the PVG scheme. Candidates may need to join or update PVG scheme, with costs covered by the council, deducted from wages.
