Job description

Job Title: Headteacher

As a Headteacher, you will promote a relentless focus on high-quality, creative learning, delivering our pupils' educational needs, maximising pupil achievement, and supporting their development.

You will have support from central services for Finance, Resourcing, HR, and IT, along with a network of supportive Headteachers from other schools and central school improvement support.

Key Objectives of the Role:
  • Achieve outstanding outcomes for pupils and young people, reflecting their needs, abilities, and aptitudes.
  • Ensure a safe environment that protects the welfare of pupils, young people, and staff.
  • Meet all statutory requirements as defined by the DfE, Ofsted, and other external bodies, aiming for the highest inspection ratings.
  • Lead a motivated staff group committed to excellence and ongoing professional development.
  • Ensure the commercial success of the school through occupancy, cost management, and growth plans.
  • Implement effective strategic and operational planning, including self-evaluation and school improvement.
  • Develop and promote a shared vision aligned with the Acorn Group strategy that inspires the school community.

**Minimum Qualifications and Experience:**

  • At least three years’ experience as a senior leader in a specialist school for pupils with complex communication needs.
  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.
  • Willingness to pursue personal and professional development.
  • Ability to lead with a clear vision.
  • Understanding that leadership encompasses pupil outcomes, staff motivation, safety, pupil recruitment, cost management, regulatory compliance, and growth.
  • Completion of NPQH.
  • Experience in conducting performance management, staff management, and curriculum planning across ages and abilities.
