Job description

Are you a freelancer whose portfolio includes previous experience as a successful VCSE leader with a passion for collaboration, inclusion, and strategic impact?

TheTorbay, Plymouth and Devon VCSE Assemblyis seeking anIndependent Deputy Chairto help shape the next phase of our journey. You'll support our Independent Chair and Executive Committee, working with our operational team to help strengthen our collaborative model and amplify the voice of the VCSE sector.

Commitment: 2 days/month (with potential for additional work, funding permitting)

Day Rate: £375 (inclusive of travel/expenses)

Location: Home-based (Devon-wide travel required)

Contract: Freelancer who can commit to support the Assembly until March 2026. Secondment opportunities will be considered where complete independence from the host employer can be demonstrated.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Strong strategic and operational leadership experience within the VCSE sector at a Deputy CEO or equivalent level.
  • A track record in VCSE collaboration, co-design, and partnership working
  • Excellent governance, engagement, and leadership skills
  • Recent knowledge of the VCSE landscape across Devon

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in building a stronger, more resilient VCSE sector across Devon.
