The Junior Engineer supports Nasstar’s Data & AI Apps practice in designing, building and deploying modern data-driven and AI-powered software solutions on Microsoft technologies.
The role focuses on rapid prototyping, proofs of concept, and production hand-over of solutions that leverage Microsoft Fabric, AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, Azure OpenAI, Power Platform and wider Azure services. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the Junior Engineer turns business and technical requirements into demonstrable value for customers, while continuously developing their own skills and certifications.
· Solution development – Build data pipelines, semantic models, AI prompts, and application components using AI Foundry, Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Power BI), Copilot Studio, Azure Functions, and Power Apps.
· Rapid prototyping & demos – Create and iterate PoCs that showcase technical feasibility and business value, including sample datasets, user flows and visualisations.
· Code quality & DevOps – Follow Git-based workflows, write unit tests, participate in pull-request reviews, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
· Documentation & knowledge sharing – Produce clear technical documentation, hand-over guides and demo scripts; present findings to internal teams and customers.
· Collaboration & support – Work closely with solution architects, data scientists, UX designers and business analysts in Agile project teams; assist pre-sales with estimations and technical input.
Education & Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or related field– equivalent experience considered.
· Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate, etc. – commitment to obtain within 12 months
· Programming in Python, SQL, C#, and/or React (or similar); ability to write clean, maintainable code.
· Proficient with Git, Azure DevOps or GitHub; comfortable with CLI tools.
· Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills.
· Growth mindset, curiosity, and ability to quickly learn new services.
· Understanding of data warehousing concepts, star/snowflake schemas, and DAX.
· Basic knowledge of MLOps or prompt engineering for generative AI.
Experience:
· 1+ years’ commercial experience (including internships or placement year) developing Data or AI solutions on Azure.
· Hands-on building prototypes, demos or PoCs that use services such as Azure Synapse/Fabric, Power BI, or Azure OpenAI.
· Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working and participation in sprint ceremonies
· Exposure to ETL/ELT pipelines, data modelling, or ML/AI workloads.
