Job description

Manager of Outsourced Partnerships

Location: Any Direct Line Group Location – Hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office

Contract: Fixed Term Contract - Up to 12 months

DLG is evolving. Across every facet of our business, our teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. By joining them, you’ll have the opportunity to not just be recognised for your skills but encouraged to build upon them and empowered to do your absolute best.

Green Flag is a roadside rescue and recovery service rooted in independence and efficiency. We work smart—bringing the very best local technicians and independent garages across the UK together under one (green) flag. Our local specialists really are the bee’s knees, the top bananas, the dog’s, well, you know. Identical, flashy vans aren’t really their style. Why bother when they have all the skills they need to get our customers back on the move as quickly as possible.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Head of Outsourced Partnerships, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of designated suppliers within the Green Flag Patrol Network. You will manage the performance of suppliers, develop relationships, and lead sourcing and negotiations with procurement.

  1. Manage the performance and contractual KPIs of your suppliers.
  2. Identify and onboard new suppliers, conducting due diligence and engaging procurement as needed.
  3. Monitor geographical performance and customer outcomes.
  4. Analyze RCA data and collaborate with data science to improve dashboards.
  5. Support supplier removal following governance procedures.
  6. Conduct performance reviews with 15–30 suppliers.
  7. Manage commercial spend, income, and revenue performance with support from P&SC.
  8. Build and maintain strong relationships based on trust and integrity.
  9. Manage risk frameworks, ensure compliance with competition law, and report breaches.
  10. Communicate proactively with service providers and colleagues to manage expectations.
  11. Handle escalations and resolve conflicts effectively.
  12. Monitor supplier financial stability and manage disputes to prevent cash flow issues.
  13. Conduct supplier audits and support out-of-hours issues on a rota basis.
  14. Manage complaints and escalate trends to the business head.
  15. Coordinate with Patrols, Health & Safety, and the Green Flag Network to ensure best practices.
  16. Develop strategies for surge events to meet customer, brand, and business needs.
  17. Maximize roadside revenue opportunities and identify new revenue streams.

Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office.

What you'll need
  • Experience managing external suppliers and building strong partnerships.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, commercial spend, and revenue within a supplier network.
  • Conflict resolution skills and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience sourcing and onboarding suppliers, working with procurement teams.
  • Automotive industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
What we’ll give you in return

We offer excellent benefits to suit your lifestyle and a flexible working model, including:

  • 9% employer-contributed pension
  • 50% off home, motor, and pet insurance, plus free travel insurance and Green Flag breakdown cover
  • Up to 10% annual bonus
  • 25 days holiday (rising to 28) plus bank holidays and option to buy or sell days
  • Optional health and dental insurance
  • EV car scheme for leasing electric or hybrid cars
