Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (DevOps) for our EU/CDE DevOps team.

Team Responsibilities

The EU/CDE DevOps team manages the development and maintenance of our Azure stack supporting the European application development department. This includes MS Azure cloud web applications and integration solutions based on the .NET stack, serving both internal employees and external customers.

Role Focus

The engineer will focus on creating a continuous delivery environment and developing related engineering and DevOps processes, tools, and practices using various Microsoft Azure offerings such as Release Management, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, application services, and integration products. Technologies include ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET, SQL databases, Azure Data Factory, and Cosmos DB. Collaboration with project team members and stakeholders across departments is also essential.

Responsibilities
  1. Champion best practices in continuous delivery.
  2. Own and enable solution teams through:
  3. Automated release pipelines from development to production environments.
  4. Automated environment provisioning.
  5. Managing Azure Cloud-hosted PaaS environments.
  6. Implementing Application Performance Management tools.
  7. Supporting governance processes to ensure compliance with standards.
  8. Engaging with global IT departments, especially in the EU.
  9. Optimizing Azure estate for department needs and contributing to service improvement initiatives.
  10. Coaching engineers on DevOps tools and processes; providing Tier-2 troubleshooting and support.
  11. Creating scripts using PowerShell or similar tools for software development.
Qualifications
  • Azure networking and PaaS services (e.g., cloud services, app service, Cosmos DB, storage, Redis, SQL Azure).
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, XML, HTML, CSS, ASP.Net, C# or VB.Net.
  • Experience with automated build and deployment using Azure DevOps.
  • Structured problem-solving approach.
  • Collaborative mindset.
  • Availability for occasional out-of-hours work.
Desirable Skills
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Azure IaaS experience.
  • Knowledge of NET Core, MVC, ASP.Net MVC Web API, JQuery, Windows Forms, WCF, RESTful services.
  • Experience with Application Performance Monitoring tools (e.g., App Insights).
  • Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Traffic Manager, Application Service Environment (ASE).
Additional Details

Hours: 40 per week

Salary: Competitive

This is a permanent role based in Egham, Surrey, with remote work options from any UK location. Remote candidates must travel to Egham quarterly at their own expense.
