Job Summary

Kiwa CMT is seeking a Head of Geo-Environmental to lead our Geo-Environmental department. In this role, you will oversee the profitable and efficient delivery of testing and analysis services related to ground investigation, waste assessments, and other geo-environmental testing. The position is based at our Derby office. Kiwa is a global leader in Testing, Inspection, and Certification, committed to creating trust and being a trusted employer.

About the role
  • Supervise daily laboratory and site services to ensure efficiency and profitability.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management to support performance.
  • Prepare and monitor departmental budgets, KPIs, and implement improvement actions.
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff, fostering a proactive team culture.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing guidance and support.
  • Contribute to business development efforts with management and sales teams.
  • Prepare quotations and proposals, supporting related processes.
  • Prepare specialist testing reports and authorize their issuance.
  • Ensure compliance with UKAS, ISO 17025, and Kiwa’s quality standards, including audits.
  • Champion health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring legal and industry standards are met.
Do you have what it takes?
  • Strong understanding of legal frameworks, technical skills, and extensive knowledge in ground investigation, contaminated land, waste testing, and materials testing.
  • Degree in Geology or Environmental Chemistry (desirable).
  • Familiarity with health and safety policies, RAMS, and PPE requirements.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Positive, motivated, and professional attitude.
  • Flexible working hours, with occasional travel and overnight stays.
  • Full UK driving license.

  • Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per year

  • 38.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday, office-based.
