Position Overview

As a Protein Scientist, you will be a key member of our technical bioprocessing team, focusing on producing alternative milk proteins. Your responsibilities will include supporting upstream processes (cloning, strain selection, fermentation) and downstream processes (protein extraction and purification) in a dynamic, innovation-driven lab environment.

Discovery Park, Kent — a leading science and technology hub fostering innovation and collaboration, with easy access to London and Europe.

Candidate Requirements
  • BSc in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry
  • PhD in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biotechnology (advantageous)
  • 1-3 years’ experience in precision fermentation, synthetic biology, or bioproduction
  • Experience with microbial culturing, media preparation, aseptic techniques
  • Skills in creating genetically engineered strains (PCR, Cloning, Transformations)
  • Experience with Pichia Pastoris & Saccharomyces cerevisiae
  • Familiarity with bench-scale bioreactor systems and fermentation monitoring
  • Protein purification skills (centrifugation, filtration, chromatography)
  • Proficiency in analytical assays (SDS-PAGE, Western blots, Bradford/BCA, ELISA)
