Contracts Manager
Location: Enfield, London
Working Hours: 10 hours per day (Mon - Fri) | Start Time: 7am
Pay Rate: £400 - £500 per day
As a Contracts Manager within Vinci Construction, you will play a key role in managing the contractual and commercial aspects of civil engineering projects. You will oversee project delivery, ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. This role is vital to ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of contracts for multiple civil engineering projects, ensuring adherence to all contractual aspects.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms, focusing on risk management and dispute resolution.
- Monitor and manage change control processes, reporting variations accurately and timely.
- Oversee project budgets and financial forecasting.
- Monitor expenditure and costs to ensure projects stay within budget.
- Collaborate with the Quantity Surveying team for invoicing and payments.
- Assist in procuring subcontractors and suppliers.
- Manage subcontractor agreements and performance.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Handle disputes or claims proactively.
- Work with legal and commercial teams for proper risk allocation.
- Lead and mentor the project team, including contract administrators and junior staff.
- Collaborate with project managers, design teams, and stakeholders for smooth delivery.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates.
- Produce reports on contract performance, risks, and financial status for senior management.
- Keep contract documentation up-to-date and well-maintained.
- Oversee preparation and submission of progress reports and claims.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and health & safety standards.
- Monitor site activities to meet quality standards and specifications.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Significant experience (5+ years) in contracts management within civil engineering or construction.
- Proven experience managing contracts on large, complex projects.
- Experience in risk, change control, and commercial contract management.
- Degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Chartered status (RICS, CIOB, or similar) is preferred but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering contracts (NEC3/NEC4, JCT, etc.) and standards.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, suppliers, and clients effectively.
- Strong financial skills in budgeting and cost control.
- Ability to lead teams and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex, or similar).
