Leicester City Council is seeking a Technical Lead for their IT Security Team. This full-time role involves ensuring the security of IT systems and infrastructure, implementing cyber security measures, and providing expert guidance on security solutions. The position offers hybrid working options and requires experience in managing security tools and responding to cyber threats.
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
The IT Security Team is responsible for ensuring the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of Leicester City Council IT systems and infrastructure through guarding Systems, devices, data and infrastructure against unauthorised access or damage.
Joining the IT Security team who are responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring cyber security measures including tools, threat intelligence, event and incident management, policy and process management.
Constantly seeking to improve our cyber security defences through identifying and addressing vulnerabilities.
This is a full time 37 hours per week permanent role. You'll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at city hall or working remotely from home to suit your needs.
What you'll be doing
The role will be a Technical Lead in the area of IT Security reporting to the Network and Telecommunications Manager.
Ensuring that arrangements are in place to minimise the risk of, and the disruption caused by cyber security attacks. You'll provide subject matter expertise in the provision of cyber security technical solutions. As well as, expert IT security knowledge to stakeholders when considering new systems.
Developing, defining and implementing IT Security technical standards, policies and processes. You'll collate and review cyber threat intelligence and identify associated risk and proportionate responses. Including, collating and reviewing SIEM event information and identify associated risk and proportionate responses.
What you'll need
With proven experience of monitoring, reporting, recommending and implementing improvements within a formal Security Operations Centre environment. You'll have experience of implementing and operating enterprise class IT security tools to proactively and reactively manage cyber threats.
Being up-to-date with rapidly changing ICT developments in IT Security technologies and practice. You'll be able to compile, produce, summarise, and present management, statistical and technical information in the form of recommendations, reports and other documentation.
With experience of managing security tests on business-critical systems and infrastructure. As well as, managing and implementing security improvements on Server, Client and Network platforms to ensure the stability, resilience and security of large numbers of concurrent and critical systems.
You'll demonstrate good situational awareness of the cyber threat landscape, and experience of applying this knowledge to identify and manage remediation of cyber security risks.
