Role - Senior Pre-Construction Project Engineer
Location - London
Purpose of the role:
The primary purpose of your role as Senior Project Engineer will be:
- To provide and coordinate operational/matrix input into the pre-contract phase to ensure a robust target cost, risk register, and outline delivery plan.
- To maximize the potential profitability of each project up to the completion of detailed design and placement of major subcontracts.
- To ensure a comprehensive delivery plan is in place for all site-based stages before work begins on site.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage the interface between pre-con, design, commercial, matrix, and delivery functions to meet or exceed time, cost, and quality targets.
- Act as Design Management Lead (DML) under our Business Management System (BMS).
- Develop systems and processes for effective coordination across all stakeholders to ensure cost-efficient delivery planning.
- Engage in the pre-contract award phase, providing operational input to the pre-con team.
- Support seamless transition from pre-con to operational teams post-contract award.
- Manage detailed design and procurement phases to achieve client approval and maximize savings.
- Ensure quality of design deliverables aligns with programme requirements, expediting and checking them proactively.
- Coordinate advanced site activities to support design and delivery planning.
- Maintain a change control system to stay ahead of changes, assess impacts, and make quick decisions.
- Operate rigorous change control procedures and handle technical queries effectively.
- Maximize procurement opportunities by developing strategic buying plans and ensuring timely orders.
- Participate in client framework supplier selection and challenge constraints.
- Create and review project delivery and procurement schedules, considering buildability and temporary works.
- Provide technical interface with the client for civil and MEICA disciplines.
- Coordinate and optimize technical solutions, ensuring compliance with design and regulatory standards.
- Manage supply chain interfaces, ensuring accurate scope and robust quotation assessments.
- Involve key functions early in the design process to confirm robust solutions and delivery plans.
- Engage with commissioning and asset integration teams during design to develop strategies.
- Report on all aspects of civil and MEICA delivery, including performance and forecasting, to the risk manager.
- Maintain a positive focus on client and customer satisfaction.
- Implement and uphold quality, safety, and environmental policies and targets.
- Contribute to a safe working environment and establish a reputation for project delivery excellence.
- Share best practices and promote continuous improvement.
