ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role is a key member of C4's Senior Finance leadership team with responsibility for the financial oversight, reporting and presentation of C4's business growth initiatives which is a key pillar of our Fast Forward Strategy, and will be heavily involved in plans to set up and scale these revenue streams. The Senior Finance Manager has accountability for the performance and results of multiple business areas and influences the strategy for the function, as well as supporting the successful execution of operational plans. The SFM will also assess potential investment opportunities which may arise.
The role is required to make high-impact decisions whilst managing risk and drives a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and inclusivity. The successful candidate will be able to manage senior stakeholders, have a proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and a strong modeller.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Partnering
Will be the day-to-day dedicated Finance lead and support to the COO, who has overall responsibility for growth initiatives, building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business as required.
Key existing revenue streams include:
- C4 Ventures - Monitoring upcoming deals, balance sheet risk, revenue opportunities
- Indie Growth Fund -Built through acquiring non-controlling interest in small indie production companies. Support on assessing business plans, due diligence on new investments, and exits. Attend monthly Advisory Board Meetings.
- Channel 4+ - Our ad-free subscription arm. Partner with the Director of Streaming to drive subscribers and recurring revenues
Plus rigorous evaluation of new business opportunities such as:
- IP Ownership - part of FastForward strategy to diversify revenues - exploring how we can produce and monetise our own content. Building the business plan and determining how we finance and govern it
- Any other new business opportunities which arise
- Be a good educator and communicator to help management understand the importance of generating a financial return for C4
- Provides support and recommendations on business cases and investment decisions, considering financial and non-financial criteria
- Able to communicate any potential financial benefit and risks of these opportunities to senior executives clearly and succinctly
FP&A Activities and Reporting- Responsible for the integrity, validity and executive presentation of all the major FY reporting processes relating to the growth initiatives - Forecasts (F1, F2 & F3), Annual Budget and multi-year strategic plans
- Working with the FP&A teams, providing high level direction, oversight and guidance of the outputs and analysis to ensure the FY outputs are accurate and applicable for the overall C4 consolidations and reports
- Develop and implement, with the FP&A team, further analytical or comparative reporting to improve understanding and applicability for forward looking plans
- Review, interpret and present monthly results to key stakeholders, identifying risks and opportunities to improve business performance
- Quarterly Business Review support - prepare and analyse KPIs and financial results,as well as input into deep dives where required
Other- Assist the Director of Finance and CFO on any and all financial analysis or activities as required
- Work with the Director of Finance and/or CFO on any project as required
- Key member of the Finance Leadership Team, responsible for driving the people agenda
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE- Qualified Accountant with at least 5+ years' post qualified experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable interacting with and providing constructive challenge to executive level colleagues
- Comfortable working in a highly results focused, complex organisation, undergoing significant change
- Previous media experience essential; experience of content creation, D2C subscription businesses, corporate finance a bonus
- Proven experience of building excellent working relationships with non-finance members of the business, able to 'tell the story' succinctly and clearly
- Excellent financial analysis and modelling skills (Advanced Excel skills)
- Excellent commercial awareness, able to see the big picture
- Significant budgeting and forecasting experience
- Strong time management skills; organised in their work and comfortable working across multiple areas, able to prioritise the important issues and be a self-starter
- High levels of personal credibility, professionalism and ethical standards
- Be committed to and aligned with the Channel 4 remit
Hybrid WorkingFrom September 2023 employees will be working minimum 3 days per week in their office location. The other 2 days should be working from home. This is to create more time for collaboration, creativity, learning and feedback. We also have a working from another location policy for up to 10 days. This pattern is subject to future changes which would be communicated in advance to provide employees with adequate notice of any change. Basic salary per annum starting from£99,969.00

Hybrid workingFrom September 2023, C4 has operated a 60/40 working pattern, equating to three office days per week.
