THE ROLE

We are looking for a high-quality individual to join our team. The Bid Manager will work with our team to project manage high quality tender returns, oversee the pipeline of new business opportunities and keep us to time and quality standards. We want someone who can lead the development and implementation of internal systems, create compelling content and showcase the Counterculture brand to our clients and future clients.

The Bid Manager will provide essential support to the Director, Business Development and Events. The successful candidate will lead on the strategic development and delivery of tenders and proposals to deliver improved conversion rates and secure new contracts for the business. We require a confident individual who can drive change and shape new, more effective ways of working. The role is a busy one requiring excellent organisational skills, strong written and verbal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Bid Management

• Oversee the preparation and submission of Counterculture’s bids, tenders and proposals.

• Ensure all proposals adhere to tender requirements, quality standards, and align with our company's offerings and values.

• Cross-functional collaboration - take a leading role in the creation of internal project teams to address project requirements

• Produce focused and tailored content for a varied audience.

• Provide assistance with supplementary research, document formatting, and editing as required by the Partners.

• Review, improve and update bid documentation regularly to meet the current needs of the business.

2. Systems & Processes

• Introduce further standardisation and efficiency across the business development function. Play a lead role in developing collaboration tools and document management systems to achieve version control best practices and generally improve our output

• Review opportunities to embed automation into our response process with a particular focus on opportunities relating to AI.

• Develop and maintain a portfolio of standardised material, such as content libraries which can be used to streamline future bids, tenders and proposals

• Further develop our tender tracking and pipeline systems to monitor tender response performance

• Develop tools to support reporting to the wider business

• Lead data-driven reporting back to the business and play a key role in identifying improvements that will improve efficiency and conversion levels

• Develop an early and analytical process to assess tender opportunities, ensuring resources are directed towards the most advantageous opportunities

3. Business Development

• Proactively identify and report on new business development opportunities

• Collaborate with team members to support a range of business development initiatives.

• Develop and maintain an understanding of market trends and competitor activity to inform bid strategy.

• Have a strong understanding of the business's services and the capabilities and skillsets of partners and associates.

4. General support.

• Support the work of the Business Development and Communications Executive

• Monitor the company's contact email inbox for bid correspondence, new opportunities and enquiries. Distribute them to the appropriate Partners and/or Associates.

• Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and suggest solutions.

• Any other duties requested by the Director, Business Development and Events or Senior Partners.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Proven successful business development experience in a commercial environment

• Very strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to write clearly and eloquently for a varied audience

• Proven track record of leading proposals/tenders and a strong understanding of bid management processes and documentation

• Strong analytical skills, with the proven ability to devise and implement new methods of working

• Confidence and presence to visibly lead and take ownership

• Demonstrable project management skills in a complex work environment

• The ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines, balancing multiple tasks.

• Strong proficiency in MS Office products especially Excel including the ability to work with complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools) as well as Word and PowerPoint.

• Ability to work independently and fully remotely, prioritising tasks effectively

• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

• Excellent time management skills

• Proactive mindset with a willingness to take the initiative and work collaboratively and decisively with our Partners & Associates

• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

Role details and benefits

• Salary: c.£35,000 contingent on experience

• Working days: Monday – Friday (although we would consider applications for 4 days)

• Location: Fully remote. Some travel to other locations may be required from time to time.

• Holiday: 22 days per annum, increasing to 24 days after one year of service and 27 after a further three years.

• Pension scheme (employers’ contribution 3%, employees’ contribution 5%)
