Head of IT

Location: Birmingham – onsite full time

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Head of IT to lead our technology initiatives. This hands-on leadership role is perfect for someone who can align IT with business goals, lead service delivery teams, and utilize the Microsoft tech stack effectively.

You will oversee a small but expanding IT team, ensuring systems, infrastructure, and services operate smoothly. Your responsibilities will include strategy development, service management, stakeholder engagement, and technology delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IT strategy aligned with business objectives, leveraging modern solutions
• Lead IT operations, service delivery, and support across multiple locations
• Manage and develop internal IT staff and external vendors
• Maintain secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure
• Ensure IT service quality through ITIL practices, meeting SLAs and KPIs
• Promote continuous improvement, automation, and standardization of IT services
• Act as escalation point for critical IT issues
• Support technology projects and initiatives
• Manage budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships
• Ensure data security, GDPR compliance, and best practices

What We're Looking For

• Proven senior IT leadership experience, such as Head of IT or IT Manager
• Strong service delivery and ITIL expertise
• Deep understanding of Microsoft ecosystem, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Endpoint Manager
• Experience with infrastructure, networking, cloud, and security
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to balance strategic planning with daily operations
• Comfort working in dynamic, fast-paced environments
• Leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and team development

Nice to Have

• ITIL certification (v3 or v4)
• Experience in regulated industries or ISO27001 standards
