About The Role
Herefordshire Council
Corporate Director, Children and Young People (DCS)
£142,952 (pay award pending)
Herefordshire Council is a stable, well-run unitary authority in a strong financial position. We are proud to serve one of England's most beautiful counties, situated on the border with Wales, with excellent regional partnerships.
Our children's services are on a journey of continuous improvement. While significant progress has been made under current leadership, there is still much to achieve. We are seeking a permanent Corporate Director of Children and Young People to lead the final stages of this improvement and create a lasting impact.
You will own the improvement journey, leading and motivating our children's services team. Your focus will be on putting children and young people at the center of our work, ensuring services align with our strategic ambitions. You will also engage with political leaders to support their vision for high-quality, sustainable, and safe children's services in Herefordshire.
We welcome applications from current Directors or Assistant Directors ready to step up. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving long-term improvement in children's services, either as a DCS or in a senior leadership role. Above all, you will share our values and prioritize the needs of children and young people.
