Job description

Nuclear CE&I Power Systems Design Engineer

Location: Cumbria (Hybrid - Remote/Warrington)


Contract Duration: 12 months


Rate: Up to £700 a day (Inside IR35)


Be part of one of the UK's most high-profile nuclear infrastructure upgrades. We are looking for an EC&I Electrical Engineer with a strong background in nuclear design to join this project. This is a technically challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the Sellafield Electrical Distribution Network Upgrade Project.


About the Role

As a key member of the CE&I design team, you'll play a vital role in developing and maintaining the project's electrical modelling capability using ETAP, while ensuring designs align with nuclear safety, operational integrity, and compliance standards.


You'll produce and validate fault level calculations, protection reports, and arc flash assessments that support both project delivery and site-wide safety improvements. Your insights will guide updates to project engineering standards and design best practices.


Essential Experience & Skills

  • Create, update, and manage the working ETAP modelling software and demonstrate proficiency in BS EN 60909 fault calculations.
  • Produce and review protection coordination studies and arc flash risk assessments, supporting multidisciplinary teams while contributing to engineering reviews.
  • Provide expert input on 11kV and 400V protection & control systems with experience of 11kV & 400V substations.
