The Role: Junior Foreign Rights Agent/ Rights Agent; full-time, permanent

A great chance to be a key player at our dynamic agency for an outgoing, proactive and highly organised individual with at least 12 months experience working in rights/ selling translation rights, and a genuine interest in dealing with international publishers.

The role involves primarily selling translation rights worldwide - both direct and co-agented - as well as related administrative duties.

Based at our London office in Notting Hill, with the possibility of some remote working.

The Company: Lorella Belli Literary Agency Ltd is a thriving agency representing and selling worldwide our bestselling, award-winning and debut authors of fiction and general non-fiction, as well as publishing clients since 2002.

The Successful Candidate:
• Significant experience and track record of dealing with and selling translation rights
• Keen to progress in their rights /agenting career
• Capable of forming and maintaining strong relationships with clients, publishers, co-agents and scouts
• A highly motivated hardworking individual capable of moving up at the agency from their initial role and take on more responsibility as needed
• Experience of working towards deadlines with the ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively
• Able to work autonomously but thrives in a small busy team
• An avid reader across a wide range of genres, who enjoys both fiction and general non-fiction, with an emphasis on commercial fiction.
• Good commercial awareness; knowledge of international markets, contemporary publishing and media trends
• A trustworthy individual, appreciative of the confidential nature of agency work on behalf of our clients

Experience/skills required:
• At least 12 months relevant experience working in Rights/ selling translation rights
• Strong negotiating skills
• Strong communication, both in writing and verbally
• Strong numeracy skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and use of rights management software (specific training can be provided if needed)

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
• Representing and selling translation rights for our authors and clients: preparing and managing submissions; strategizing and pitching projects to foreign publishers, co-agents and scouts; managing the deal process from offer stage to contract signature; liaising with clients; handling approvals; sending out updates and press material, coordinating publicity; preparing and updating schedules and right lists; arranging and preparing for meetings (online and in person); attending and overseeing the agency presence at book fairs, and at other publishing events as needed.

• Overall administrative tasks: diary management; updating and managing submissions and rights management database; running market reports; creating and updating presentation materials; dealing with day-to-day rights queries.

• Contracts & Accounts: raising/checking/tracking translation rights contracts; monitoring book delivery & publication dates, author’s copies; dealing with rights renewal/reversion; processing agreements and clients tax forms; checking/processing foreign royalty statements; invoicing and tracking rights payments.

• Editorial: reading and evaluating manuscripts to be pitched; developing submission strategies for different territories and markets.

• Agency social media/marketing for translation deals matters in particular, sharing updates on new rights sales, reviews, news stories, to help promote our clients and their work.

• Client care and promotion: this is at the heart of what we do. You'll gain an in-depth knowledge of our authors and clients, providing excellent customer care, dealing with matters in a professional, confidential, reliable and efficient way.

Salary: £29,000 + per annum, dependent on experience.
