PM Group is a leading international engineering, architecture, project, and construction management firm. With offices across Europe, Asia, and the US, and a multidisciplinary team of 3,500 professionals, we deliver complex capital projects in sectors such as life sciences, food and beverages, mission-critical/ICT, advanced manufacturing, energy, and environmental.

We are seeking a senior-level Technical Director of Electrical Engineering to serve as the central voice for Electrical Engineering Design, leading and developing this discipline within PM Group. This full-time, strategic role offers an opportunity to shape the future of the company. The role involves collaboration with the Director of Engineering, Discipline Technical Directors, and Heads of Services to ensure efficient and consistent delivery of design services across all 20 of our design offices worldwide.

The successful candidate will contribute to improving company performance, ensuring the delivery of safe assets to clients, and fostering a safe, healthy, and motivated work environment. This senior position reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for leadership, governance, troubleshooting, and defining operational practices in Electrical Engineering Design.

We offer a flexible working environment with hybrid options, allowing up to two days of remote work per week. The role can be based in Ireland, the UK, Poland, or Belgium.

Responsibilities

  1. PM Group Strategy for Electrical Engineering
  2. Develop a strategic plan for Electrical Engineering capacity and capability across the group.
  3. Support Business Units in strengthening and expanding their departments, including profiling, competency assessment, and training needs.
  4. Develop specialized SME areas within Electrical Engineering, such as sustainability.
  5. Align and develop cross-functional competencies with Architecture and other Engineering disciplines, focusing on key sectors and technologies.
  6. Define core design activities and deliverables for sector-specific projects to ensure safety and efficiency.
  1. Digitalisation of Business Processes / Ways of Working
  2. Implement strategies for continuous improvement in Electrical Engineering services.
  3. Enhance the Electrical Engineering Service Delivery Platform as part of our Quality Management System.
  4. Create standardized group-wide working methods considering local codes and industry standards.
  5. Integrate digital and lean design principles, sector-specific approaches, and location-specific requirements.
  6. Manage investments in business transformation projects.
  1. Governance of Design Delivery
  2. Support sales proposals and establish project watch lists based on design challenges and risks.
  3. Influence early design stages and chair Single Discipline Design Reviews on key projects.
  4. Review safety documentation and contribute to go/no-go decisions for high-risk projects.

  2. Act as a first responder for critical Electrical Engineering issues across the group.
  3. Engage with senior client and internal teams to agree on corrective actions.
  4. Serve as Technical Sponsor for corrective initiatives and update management on progress.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Pharma, Med Tech, and Data Center sectors
  • Membership in recognized engineering bodies (e.g., Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers)
  • Strong technical, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate across functions
  • Self-starter and decisive decision-maker
  • Fluent in English
