Job Opportunity: Tool & Die Maker at CommScope, Catawba, NC

Role Overview: You will be a team member in a functional tool room, participating in Root Cause Corrective Action processes. Your responsibilities include making intricate tools with extremely close tolerances (<0.0005 inches), planning, laying out, and completing jobs with minimal supervision, adhering to industry standards for quality and time.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan, lay out, and perform bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, etc., requiring high skill and extensive tooling knowledge. Work from complex drawings and specifications, using precision instruments.
2. Perform complex machining operations with complicated setups, improvising tooling and machine adaptations beyond normal capacities.
3. Carry out precise bench and assembly operations to fit, align, calibrate, adjust, and finish work.
4. Possibly engage in development and experimental work, selecting allowances and materials, sometimes working independently of design specifications.
5. Assign work and instruct other tool room personnel; may serve as project lead, collaborating closely with designers and engineers.
6. Establish and maintain preventative maintenance programs and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Schedule:

12-hour shifts, 4 days per week.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience with CAD/CAM software, preferably Esprit
• Experience as a CNC Machinist operating 3 and 4 axis mills or lathes
• Tool and Die experience
• Wire and Sinker EDM experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience & education
• Associate’s Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Systems, or related fields
