Please note that this is a temporary appointment to cover maternity leave until 31st August 2026. Many of our fixed-term members of staff go on to secure permanent roles – this could be your step into a career with EKC Group.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Folkestone College for a Curriculum Lead in English (known internally as a Programme Director). This fixed-term opportunity will give the right candidate valuable experience as a curriculum leader, as part of their ongoing CPD. This role is predominantly teaching, with responsibilities to support curriculum development.

If you are an internal candidate, there may be an opportunity for this to be a secondment, which can be discussed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan a relevant and distinctive curriculum to meet local/regional skills requirements
  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to individual learner needs
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery team to ensure students receive up-to-date course information
  • Create course activities supporting student understanding of objectives, assessment schedules, and requirements in line with awarding body criteria, including the course handbook

About You:

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Highly organised and creative
  • Capable of planning and delivering engaging lessons
  • Excellent in interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in assessing and tracking student progress
  • Proficient in planning interventions to develop student skills

You should be passionate about impacting students' future careers, providing academic leadership, and managing curriculum delivery and accreditation. Teaching and vocational experience are essential; leadership skills are desirable.

This role is ideal for a proven teacher or lecturer seeking career progression, overseeing curriculum provision, building stakeholder relationships, and delivering high-quality teaching and assessment.

A recognised teaching qualification (such as PGCE, DET, LST) is required.
