Activity Leader - Summer - Salisbury, Wiltshire

Salary: £412.00 – £559.17 per week, depending on age, experience, and qualifications. (February Half Term Contracts will be issued at the 2023 wage level. 2024 wage level effective from 1st April.)

Report to: Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office

Contract Details

Activity Leader contracts are based on a minimum of 4 days per week with an allocated day off each week, confirmed by your Recruiter/Camp Manager. There may be a requirement to work up to 5 days depending on booking numbers and staffing needs, with prior confirmation. During Easter and May half term, contracts will be based on 3-day weeks with one day off, as detailed above.

Activity Leader Duties
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining an inviting base room area, ensuring it is tidy and equipment is stored properly.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure children have fun in a safe environment.
  • Follow the activity timetable to deliver a variety of sessions as promised.
  • Collaborate with the staff team to deliver sessions.
  • Supervise children actively, ensuring their needs are met during breaks and lunch.
  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities with enthusiasm and structure.
  • Encourage children’s participation and get to know their interests to tailor activities.
  • Take responsibility for the welfare and safeguarding of children.
  • Ensure the safe use and storage of equipment.
Requirements
  • Experience or qualifications working with children.
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Satisfactory references.
  • Enthusiastic, caring, organized, with excellent communication skills and initiative.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges.
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete annual Online Training and attend Induction before the season.
  • Assist with camp pack-up at the end of the session.

  • Organize activities suitable for your qualifications and skills.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities.
  • Maintain children’s safety, behavior, and well-being, respecting their individual needs.
  • Follow all camp procedures, including registration, health, and safety guidelines.
  • Be a positive role model promoting health, hygiene, and welfare.
  • Report child protection concerns promptly.
  • Make reasonable adjustments for children with additional needs.
  • You may be asked to deliver Skills Builder sessions and support swimming sessions (bring swimwear).
