Engineering Manager – Baggage

Salary: From £59,795 + £4,750 Flex Allowance + Up to 20% Bonus + Benefits

Location: London Gatwick

About the Role

The core purpose of this role is to deliver a safe, efficient, and resilient Baggage System that manages one of the three major flows within the Airport, ensuring high levels of safety, reliability, and availability of this critical infrastructure system.

The role requires strong leadership of the maintenance team, effective management of third parties, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Baggage Engineering team to deliver maintenance plans.
• Ensure optimal performance and availability of Baggage assets, including performance improvements aligning with OBP / CSS metrics.
• Promote a strong EH&S culture across all teams to reduce incidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders such as GAL teams, airlines, and handling agents to support operations.
• Manage costs and contracts to stay within operational budgets.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree or HND in engineering discipline, with significant experience accepted.
• Proven leadership in promoting health and safety culture, ensuring processes protect employees and contractors.
• Experience managing and developing a baggage team aligned with strategic priorities.
• Ability to ensure system performance meets or exceeds OBP and CSS measures.
• Experience leading failure investigations related to baggage systems and operational impacts.
