We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and driven individual to join our team as a Children’s Care Worker who drives. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to children with varying needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development. This position involves travelling to different locations, so a full UK driving licence and reliable vehicle are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care to children, including assistance with hygiene, dressing, eating, and general daily activities.
- Support children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or emotional needs in a nurturing and understanding manner.
- Facilitate safe transportation of children to and from school, activities, or appointments, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey.
- Encourage and assist with educational activities and play, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Prepare meals and snacks, considering any dietary restrictions or preferences, and assist with feeding where necessary.
- Monitor and promote health and well-being, administering medication when required, in line with care plans.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, performing light housekeeping duties as required (e.g., tidying up play areas, washing dishes).
- Ensure any incidents, concerns, or changes in the child’s condition are documented and reported to senior staff or family members.
- Establish a positive and trusting relationship with children and their families, ensuring effective communication at all times.
- Be a positive role model for children, promoting good behaviour, respect, and responsibility.
- Drive children to and from activities, appointments, or outings, ensuring the vehicle is safe and properly maintained.
Minimum Requirements:
- A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Experience working with children, particularly in a care or support role (either paid or voluntary), is desirable.
- A compassionate, patient, and caring nature with the ability to form positive relationships with children.
- Understanding of child safeguarding procedures and the ability to promote a safe environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with children and their families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to promoting the welfare and development of children.
- An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required.
- First aid and/or childcare qualifications (e.g., NVQ in Children’s Care, Learning and Development) are desirable but not essential.
