Power Business Analyst – Commodities Trading House | Power Trading | £800/Day Outside IR35 | 2-3 days office, LDN

Commodities & Energy Trading House are undergoing a technology transformation. A major project involves migrating their Valuations and PnL portfolio from the current ETRM system to a new, bespoke ETRM designed for Power trades.

The Power Business Analyst will focus on enhancing Front Office Power Trading capabilities, working with users across the business to cover the full trade lifecycle for physical OTC Power.

Key understanding needed includes ETRMs, OTC exchanges, REMIT reporting, baseload, peak/off-peak, intraday/day-ahead trading, PPAs, physical power trade lifecycle, M2M, P&L, VAR, and power grids.

The role involves collaboration with front and middle office teams, direct desk access, and exposure to end-to-end physical power trades. The analyst must perform hands-on analysis of current systems, understand physical commodities lifecycle, and gather data requirements.

Proactive engagement with users, ownership of documentation (e.g., user stories), and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders are essential.

Day rate: Up to £800/Day Outside IR35

Location: Hybrid, 2-3 days in-office, London

Expertise: Power physical trading lifecycle, PPA, day-ahead, intraday, REMIT reporting, etc.

Duties:

• Working with users to identify needs
• Creating examples, mock-ups, test cases to clarify requirements
• Performing system and data analysis for changes
• Working within Agile and Waterfall methodologies

Experience required:

• At least 5 years as an IT Business Analyst in trading
• Physical commodities trading experience and understanding of the physical trading lifecycle
• Knowledge of Power market specifics: REMIT, OTC exchanges, balancing, baseload, peak/off-peak, intraday/day-ahead, PPAs, VAR, power grids
• Front/middle office knowledge including pricing and valuation (P&L, risk)
