WorkingRite seeks to stop the cycle of deprivation and poverty that occur in so many communities across Scotland. Wedo this through our award-winning, youth employability programme, which sees practical work skills coupled withpersonal development, strengthened through a mentored work placement with a small, local business of the youngperson’s choice.

Our flexible, person-centred programmes of training, support and work placements put the young people at the heart oftheir future, helping those 15 – 24 years old who are furthest from the job market, to gain confidence, realskills and a foothold on the employability ladder. We have been operating as a charity since 2011 and in thattime have supported over 3,500 young people into a positive destination. We currently operate programmes inEdinburgh, Glasgow, Argyll & Bute, Aberdeen and East Ayrshire.

WorkingRite have recently secured significant investment that will see us grow our work across the country. We havealso recently appointed a new CEO who has a vision to see us increase our work in the 5 local authorities wealready work in and expand into new areas of Scotland where the needs of young people are greatest.

All this means it is a very exciting time to be joining WorkingRite.

This exciting role will support young people from different secondary schools across Edinburgh to prepare foremployment when they leave school. By delivering WorkingRite’s in-school model, Rite to Work, this post willwork with small groups of young people in their last year at school to gain the confidence and skills they needto progress into jobs, apprenticeships or further vocational learning – or gain further support withWorkingRite’s post-16 work experience programme in local businesses.

We require a Rite to Work Project Co-ordinator who can:

  • Self-start and work on own initiative
  • Work as part of a high functioning team
  • Engage andmotivate young people in groups and 1:1
  • Build strong relationships with schools, parents andbusinesses
  • Work to targets
  • Offer new and creative ideas
  • Deliver accredited andcertificated learning opportunities
  • Support young people with challenges and barriers toprogression

You will be confident, have excellent communication skills and be well organised. Above all, you must be enthusiasticand want to support young people.

(This role is suitable for hybrid working in the Edinburgh area. We offer Flexible Working by default.)

This new position will provide comprehensive support to WorkingRite’s administration requirements and Head officesupport in Whiteinch, Glasgow.

The role will see you support facilities related and administrative support tasks and maintain high quality andprofessional relations with all internal and external contacts and be the point of contact for theorganisation’s external partners, stakeholders, and customers.

Purpose of post

• To ensure efficient and, effective and sustainable financial support to for Checkin Works (CIW) and Giraffe TradingCIC in line with their strategic objectives.

• Coordinate the day-to-day financial operations for both our trading enterprise (Giraffe) and our registered charity(Checkin Works)

• Ensure effective practices and procedures are in place.

• Responsible and accountable to the Chief Executive Officer

Overview

• The effective running of the finance operations of the organisation including regular reporting and budgetingresponsibilities

• With the CEO, oversight of the funding process and planning to ensure financial sustainability for theorganisation

• Responsibility with Senior Management Team for planning strategy needed to achieve aims and objectives

• You will have an up to date working knowledge of the relevant legislative framework and operating environment

• You will have an understanding of acceptable service standards, policies/procedures and best practice in corporategovernance and financial management, charity operation and central and local government contracts andgrants

  • Hybrid working between NAS Scotland’s Glasgow office and home, plus regular travel within Glasgow City and North Lanarkshire (Hybrid)

Provan Hall is an A listed medieval building located in Auchinlea Park, which sits at the heart of Easterhouse. Thebuilding has undergone a £2m restoration by Glasgow City Council that will safeguard this important heritageasset as a new hub for heritage learning and engagement, and a visitor gateway to the Seven Lochs WetlandPark.

Following its restoration, Provan Hall is managed and operated by the Provan Hall Community Management Trust. The aimof the Trust is to engage and inspire local people to value and take part in caring for their local heritage. Weaim to provide opportunities that connect local people and visitors to Provan Hall through inclusive andcreative means of heritage interpretation and activities.

Provan Hall Community Management Trust were awarded a grant by the National Lottery Community Awards for All fund toinitiate a youth programme at Provan Hall. Following on from the success of this project, we have been awarded agrant by The Graham Trust and The Robertson Trust. These grant enables us to focus a programme of engagementwith young people aged 5 – 24 across Easterhouse, Glasgow. The postholder will coordinate a programme ofactivities for young people to inspire enthusiasm and develop participation in our organisation. The post holderwill further develop our current connections with local youth groups and initiate new ones across the widerarea, furthering young people’s involvement in Provan Hall and our organisation. The role will includecoordinating with our project partners, developing youth forums, liaising with freelance professionals, staffand supervising volunteers. This is a maternity leave post initially covering 9 months of maternity leave butmay extend to 12 months.
