Data Architect - Flexible location

Bibby Financial Services has an exciting opportunity for a Data Architect to join our team, working in any of our UK locations with travel to Banbury as required.

You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and receive a competitive salary of £80,000 – £100,000 per annum.

Role Overview

As our Data Architect, you will understand our business operations and translate that into effective data architecture to support our growth domestically and internationally. You will collaborate closely with the Senior Data Developer, Data Product Manager, and other architects to ensure cohesive technical solutions and maintain a clear understanding of our data practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deeply understand BFS's business model and products to lead data modeling efforts that optimize value.
2. Design and implement data solutions aligning with the BFS Data Strategy.
3. Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of data systems.
4. Evaluate client operations to determine database structure needs.
5. Assess database implementation for compliance with governance regulations.
6. Prepare reports on database design and architecture for management.
7. Plan and support migration from legacy systems to new solutions.
8. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
9. Collaborate with digital and application teams for data use case delivery.
10. Stay updated on emerging data technologies and best practices.
11. Work with procurement to select appropriate technologies.
12. Recommend improvements for database systems.
13. Educate and support business stakeholders through presentations and training.
14. Respond promptly to system problems.
15. Participate in the Architectural Design Board.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as a Data Architect or similar role.
• Expertise in Microsoft BI Stack and Azure data platform technologies, especially Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, and Databricks.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and Delta Lake.
• Experience working in Scrum environments and using source control like git.
• Strong understanding of database principles and Lakehouse architecture.
• Proficiency in SQL, SPARK, and Python.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
