The Senior Research Scientist plays a pivotal role in advancing enzyme-based solutions for food applications by leveraging analytical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic vision to drive research, development, and intellectual property management initiatives within the business.
Key responsibilities
- Developing novel enzyme applications tailored to address both emerging and established customer needs;
- Pioneering the development of analytical techniques by leveraging appropriate technologies;
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance knowledge and expertise in enzyme utilization in production processes and understanding customer requirements;
- Conducting tests and analyses using methodologies such as GC-MS, UV-vis, HPLC, resolving inherent challenges, and presenting detailed reports;
- Maintaining meticulous records of projects and experiments in the laboratory;
- Cultivating collaborative relationships with scientific staff;
- Strategically selecting and customizing analytical methods from a range of options;
- Providing training to laboratory personnel to improve skills and knowledge;
- Upholding an organized laboratory environment, including equipment and instruments;
- Adhering to safety procedures, maintaining equipment, managing supplies, and serving as the Health and Safety manager for the laboratory.
Knowledge and Experience
- Master's degree or higher in Food Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Processing, or a related scientific field, with a strong background in enzyme applications.
- More than 5 years' experience in commercial or academic laboratories.
- Profound understanding of chemical characteristics, formulations, and their impact on food properties.
- Demonstrated expertise in food analytical methodologies such as HPLC, GC, and MS for product development.
- Familiarity with general food industry production processes and requirements.
- Experience in application/product development, analysis, and patent-related activities within the food production industry, ideally dairy-related.
- Understanding of enzymes and their applications in the food industry is advantageous.
