Job Description
The Keegans Group is seeking an Associate Director Fire Engineer within the Compliance and Safety Team. The role involves providing fire safety support and advice, assisting in delivering appropriate fire safety guidance, and collaborating with internal teams.
This is a full-time/permanent position, ideally based in London, but applications from nationwide are considered.
Responsibilities
- Participate in project meetings and workshops, providing fire safety guidance and recommendations.
- Review design documents, including drawings and reports, offering fire safety comments and preparing technical reports.
- Research new technologies, materials, and regulations related to fire safety, and support their implementation.
- Conduct risk assessments and present findings to stakeholders.
- Maintain a trusted network across the organization.
- Generate fire safety strategy reports for various projects.
- Review external walls according to PAS 9980 guidance.
- Update and maintain internal guidance and documentation.
- Prepare technical guidance notes and present at knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Manage project records, fees, and invoicing using Deltek system.
- Ensure contractual agreements are in place with clients and subconsultants.
- Lead and develop a team of Senior and Fire Engineers, including conducting reviews and appraisals.
- Lead weekly team meetings, resource planning, and recruitment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or Master’s in construction or engineering (e.g., Surveying, Fire Safety Engineering).
- Professional membership with RICS, CABE, or IFE/IFSM.
- Extensive experience in fire engineering or related disciplines, with desirable experience in façade fire engineering.
- Proficiency with BIM, AutoCAD, or similar design tools.
- Experience with CFD modeling, probabilistic/reliability analysis, and tools like FDS.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, BS standards, etc.
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
- Interest in progressing towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the Engineering Council via IFE.
