OBHC is a vibrant, friendly, and competitive club, with over 200 juniors, 12 adult teams and a flyerz team. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Mens 1XI Head Coach to lead our talented squad and support the club's aspirations for promotion to Prem hockey.

The club’s growth and management are built on a broad pool of committed and supportive volunteers. We have an excellent structure and there is a commitment and resource to develop and improve the club in every way we can.

We have our own fantastic pitch and clubhouse in Failand and have worked hard to be recognised with the Club Mark Accreditation. OBHC is proud to be a Flyerz Club and is friendly and inclusive, welcoming disabled and non-disabled people of all ages and abilities as well as their families.

The Role:

  • Lead the M2XI creating a high-performance environment. They currently play in West 2.
  • Develop a training and development programme for the 2XI and emerging players from other elements of the club.
  • Report to the Mens Club Captain on agreed objectives for the Section. Work with relevant Team Captains on selection and ensure that the progression of juniors continues to be well-managed.
  • Deliver at least one training session per week and manage league games on weekends where possible.
  • Plan and deliver pre-season, including player recruitment, training, fitness and fixtures.
  • Support other club initiatives to achieve the club’s goals as appropriate, including the Schools Programme, Back to Hockey etc.

There is the option for the right person to take on additional coaching and potentially even broader roles within the club. This could include adult or junior training sessions up to around an additional 10 hours a week of coaching during the season.

Pay:

Competitive, linked to coaching qualifications, experience and including reasonable travel time to away games.

Person specification:

  • Proven coach with experience of training and managing a team.
  • Looking for a long-term project and excited at the prospect of taking an established club with amazing potential forward.
