The Opportunity:

Everest Insurance has an opportunity for an experienced Claims Adjuster to join our Ireland Branch as a Casualty & Property Claims Adjuster reporting into our claims team in London. This individual will be responsible for the handling of all Casualty and Property claims underwritten in our Branch in Ireland. The reporting line will be into our UK&I claims team based in London, but the role will be based in Dublin.

Reporting to the UK & I Casualty Claims Manager, this individual will handle, investigate, evaluate and resolve casualty and property claims underwritten from Ireland.

In addition, they will provide oversight and management of TPA’s, adjusters, lawyers and other external experts, with a wide degree of latitude for independent judgment. They will contribute across the organization by providing input, advice and review to underwriters and participate in onboarding and stewardship meetings with customers and brokers.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Highly developed analytical skills
  • Reviewing and analysing complex coverage issues and preparation of coverage letters
  • Investigating, analysing and evaluating liability, damages and cost exposures
  • Managing and directing outside experts including adjusters and lawyers
  • Preparing case summary reports related to matters of significant reserve and litigation activity
  • Setting timely and appropriate case reserves
  • Preparation of Large Claims Reports in respect of significant reserve and litigation activity
  • Developing and executing claim strategies as well as resolution strategies
  • Negotiating and resolving cases
  • Assisting in the managing and overseeing Third party administrators (TPAs)
  • Working with underwriters to support policy construction and drafting, reporting claim trends, data analysis, and risk assessments
  • Participate in claim reviews, stewardship meetings and claim audits
  • Extensive communication and collaboration with insureds, brokers, reinsurers and underwriters
  • Attending client meetings and industry functions to support retention and development of client relationships and business
  • Performing similar work-related duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in claims handling or legal experience
  • Experience with a global insurance company or broker working across multiple underwriting platforms, jurisdictions and markets
  • Good working understanding of London Market claims systems, i.e., ECF, IMR, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of casualty and property coverage
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and investigation skills
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Self-directed and organised
  • Ability to influence others and resolve complex, disputed claims
  • Ability to identify and use relevant data and metrics to best manage claims
  • Collaborative mind-set and willingness to work with people outside immediate reporting hierarchy to improve processes and generate optimal departmental efficiency
  • Ability and willingness to present to senior management and to others in other group settings
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims process and legal and regulatory environment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in claims handling or legal experience
