An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join our expanding psychology team within Trafford Living Well. Psychology is highly valued and integrated into the ethos of Living Well and the wider network of community partnerships. The successful candidates will be supported by three Clinical Psychologists and we welcome applicants who bring curiosity and creativity to develop the psychology offer within this service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, delivering psychological services such as short-term psychosocial interventions (approximately 6 sessions) and supporting group program development and delivery. The role involves independent work within team policies, administrative tasks, audits, data collection, research, and teaching.

Qualifications
  • Upper second class honours degree or higher in Psychology or equivalent
  • Additional training in psychosocial interventions (PSI) and CBT
Experience
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health or social care needs
  • Experience in multidisciplinary or complex care settings
  • Experience delivering psychosocial interventions and group work
  • Experience conducting risk assessments
Knowledge
  • Understanding of mental health difficulties and psychological assessments/interventions
  • Awareness of NHS Adult Community Mental Health Services reforms
Skills
  • Excellent communication skills for complex information
  • Interpersonal skills for engaging diverse groups and families
  • Effective use of supervision and time management
  • Experience with service audits, evaluation, or research
Person specification
  • Psychology degree (upper second class or higher)
  • Relevant clinical training (PSI, CBT)
