About Markus Ward

Markus Ward is an 8-bed, medical oncology unit within the Private Care Division, specializing in inpatient chemotherapy and cancer symptom management. We prioritize personalized care to ensure patient comfort and well-being during treatment. We are seeking an experienced Health Care Support Worker to join our team.

Main Duties
  1. Provide responsible and efficient nursing care as planned with the shift coordinator.
  2. Develop understanding of cancer patient needs and treatment modalities, working autonomously under supervision of a registered nurse.
  3. Work as part of the nursing team to maintain a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for patients.
Detailed Job Responsibilities
  • Practice the Care Certificate and support junior staff to meet standards.
  • Communicate tactfully and empathetically, overcoming barriers with patients who have physical impairments, mental health conditions, or learning disabilities.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation) and report abnormalities.
  • Assess patient comfort and initiate emergency procedures if needed.
  • Measure and record patients' height and weight.
  • Perform venepuncture and blood sampling after training and competency assessment.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
  • Completed Care Certificate
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Ongoing professional development evidence
  • NVQ in Health and Social Care Level 2, working towards Level 3
Experience
  • Relevant healthcare experience long enough to obtain competencies for a Band 3 role
  • Computer skills including data entry
  • Experience working with oncology patients
