Description
To contribute to achieving excellence in teaching and learning through innovative and excellent practice. You will be expected to create effective and stimulating learning opportunities for all students through high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment.
You will deliver teaching and learning on all Sport, Exercise & Fitness and Uniform Public Services courses. These courses vary from levels 1 through to Level 6 and offer current and relevant industry/practitioner skills.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative, forward-thinking teacher, highly motivated to improve young people's prospects. Vocational courses are offered at all levels, including Gym Instruction and Personal Trainer qualifications. An ability to deliver a wide range of units in Sport Science and Exercise & Fitness would be advantageous, across various levels and courses. Additionally, the ability to teach Public Service courses would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute fully to the mission and values of the College, ensuring effective implementation in all aspects of College life
- Contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and participate in the annual review
- Stay updated on national developments in the subject area and enhance knowledge and skills annually
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons to manage the learning process effectively
- Use a range of effective teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students, encouraging independence and autonomy
- Create a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident, and valued
- Establish procedures promoting appropriate behaviour, communication, respect, and challenging discriminatory attitudes
- Set and mark work according to College and School policies, record work, and assess progress
- Monitor students' progress and attendance using College systems and policies
- Employ diverse teaching styles and learning experiences
- Be familiar with external/internal assessment procedures and contribute to their implementation
- Improve communication skills to maximize effective communication and overcome barriers
- Collaborate with the Head of School on programme and teaching approach design to achieve high standards
- Assist in the administration supporting teaching, learning, and assessment within the subject area
- Work with colleagues to identify and address English and Maths skills development needs
- Review professional development needs and participate in training
- Engage with parents, carers, and students through various events and meetings
- Ensure compliance with College policies and procedures
- Provide enrichment opportunities that motivate and enhance the student experience
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential criteria:
- Relevant vocational or related work experience in Sport & Leisure
- Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to achieve it
- Experience in curriculum planning, development, & delivery
- Engagement in Continuing Professional Development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience assessing student needs and planning curricula, including Technology Enhanced Learning
- Understanding of curriculum development to meet employer training needs
Desirable criteria:
- Degree in Sports or Public Services
- Master's degree in sport
- Relevant professional qualification
- Assessor and IQA qualifications
- Proficiency in current IT programs
- High standards for students and colleagues
- Experience with resource-based learning
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Understanding of quality assurance processes
