Job summary

A leading children's mental health charity is seeking Counselling Placements to provide emotional and therapeutic support in partner schools. Applicants must be qualified or studying towards counselling qualifications. Opportunities for professional development and clinical hours accumulation are available.

Qualifications

  • Must be a fully qualified Counsellor or studying towards Level 4 or above.
  • Relevant experience working with children is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional and therapeutic support to children aged 4-18.
  • Attend regular supervision and training workshops.
  • Offer one-to-one counselling to up to 3 children weekly.

About The Role

Please note that not all schools will have placements available, but we will try our best to match you to a convenient placement.

Please only apply for one vacancy as multiple applications are rejected on the system. If successful upon interview, you will have the opportunity to discuss your location preference.

All successful applicants will need a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) or Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check that is enhanced, checked for children’s and adult’s barred list, and registered on the Update Service.

Role Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools.
  • Work in accordance with the BACP ethical framework of good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
  • Attend regular supervision, tailored training workshops, and participate in clinical supervision at the end of each day.
  • Be available for a minimum of one day per week to offer one-to-one counselling to up to 3 children.
  • Participate in term-time placements for one academic year, with opportunities for extension.
  • Attend optional workshops recognized as continuing professional development.
  • Accumulate clinical hours towards professional accreditation, recognized by BACP and UKCP.
Minimum Requirements
  • Be a fully qualified Counsellor, Therapist, or studying towards these professions at Level 4 or above, or hold a Degree, MSc, or MA in Counselling or Psychotherapy with relevant experience working with children.
Additional Information

All clinical hours can contribute towards accreditation. Please verify with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your course. If not, you may apply as a second placement.
