The Opportunity: As a Statistical Scientist Lead, you will act independently as Study Statistician, Medical Affairs Statistician, Exploratory Statistician, Regional Statistician Lead, or Lead Product Statistician for complex or novel work. You may also serve as a Global Statistical Lead for an asset or as a methodology expert. Under supervision, you will represent Astellas on statistical matters at meetings with regulatory authorities, key opinion leaders, and HTAs. We offer a hybrid working model, combining office and remote work to promote work-life balance.

Key Activities:

  • Provide expert data science support to drug development programs and studies, supervising statisticians or working as part of study teams.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of data science deliverables across studies.
  • Independently provide strategic statistical input for early or non-complex assets, including study design and analysis methodologies.
  • Lead biomarker and PK/PD strategies, large/complex studies, or support marketed products.
  • Contribute to regulatory dossiers and publications by interpreting statistical results.
  • Ensure availability of biomarker, external data, and integrated databases to support development and marketing decisions.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Extensive experience applying statistical methods in biomedical research, pharma, CRO, academia, or healthcare.
  • Solid experience with pharmacokinetics (PK).
  • Broad knowledge of statistical methods and industry practices for clinical and biomarker data analysis.
  • Proficiency in SAS; knowledge of R preferred.
  • Understanding of data management and programming processes.
  • Experience working internationally.
  • Good knowledge of medical literature, clinical, regulatory, and commercial landscapes.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex statistical methodologies.

Education/Qualifications:

  • PhD or M.S. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related scientific field, or equivalent.

Additional Information:

  • This is a permanent role based in the UK.
  • Role follows a hybrid working model with occasional office visits in Addlestone. Flexibility may be required based on business needs. Candidates must be within a commutable distance of the office.
