Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Principal Planning Officer in the Doncaster area. This role is to deliver and implement corporate and directorate objectives through specialist planning advice, dealing with major and other planning applications, policy development, and associated services.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the delivery of Planning Services by providing clear, effective advice on Development Management and Planning Policy.
  2. Manage own caseload of major and other planning applications and determine all planning applications.
  3. Develop and implement statutory and non-statutory policies and strategies, including all aspects of statutory planning policy such as preparing evidence documents, data analysis, research, and the preparation/review of development plans.
  4. Prepare and advise on CIL/S106 matters, including policy and implementation.
  5. Engage in pre-application discussions and negotiations with developers to identify requirements, interpret policies, and find ways to improve proposals.
What You Will Need
  • A planning qualification to degree level (or equivalent) and full membership of the RTPI, or clear evidence of working towards full membership.
  • Experience in a Local Authority working on Policy Planning, including the production of policy documents for Local Plans, dealing with major planning applications, preparing and presenting evidence at appeals, or participating in Local Plan or other plan-making examinations.
  • Ability to clearly write and present reports and evidence on complex planning matters.
  • Experience of supervision or management at some level.
