About The Job

National Highways has an exciting opportunity for a Technology Engineer, working with specialists to improve the National Highway infrastructure and enhance customer safety.

As an Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering schemes, utilizing your technical and stakeholder skills to identify asset needs and develop roadside technology schemes in accordance with asset policies and standards.

Please note: You will be required to drive as part of your role. Candidates must have no more than 3 points on their driving license to be considered for this position and during employment.

1. The development of technology improvement schemes and/or renewals, including preparing relevant documents, evidence, and options for value management, considering new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
2. Assisting with the collection, identification, and evaluation of asset data to develop early solutions based on established methodologies and prioritization criteria.
3. Identifying, preparing briefs, and managing the delivery of survey works that support asset improvement and renewal.
4. Contributing to the regional asset-led forward programme and initial scheme development.
5. Providing technical support to Project Managers, including materials approvals, vetting contractor compliance, site inspections, and reviewing health and safety files.

About You

1. Degree or HND in a relevant discipline with appropriate experience.
2. Knowledge of ITS (Intelligence Technology Systems).
3. Understanding of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges standards and their application on the highways network.
4. Experience in AutoCAD.
5. Knowledge of relevant construction and delivery methods, including CDM 2015.
