About the Role:

The Energy Division at ARM is seeking a Principal EC&I Design Engineer to join a leading Nuclear Defence client.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead and manage EC&I engineering work packages, setting project objectives, managing performance, and providing technical responses.
  • Provide technical guidance and review of EC&I system designs, ensuring compliance with Design Basis Events and Safety Functional requirements as per the Safety Case.
  • Ensure design documentation meets project scope, standards, schedule, and budget.
  • Plan for effective project implementation, leading technical planning processes.
  • Operate and deliver quality management arrangements in compliance with Babcock's systems and manuals.
  • Maintain proper documentation, records, and configuration controls.
  • Support the Design Manager in implementing health, safety, and environmental considerations in design.
What you need to succeed:
  • Design and substantiation of EC&I engineering solutions complying with relevant codes for Nuclear Safety Functions.
  • Knowledge of process design for large-scale industrial plants.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing complex design projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ability to advise subcontracted design teams effectively.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to the discipline and project.
  • Experience in project specification, planning, management, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of company procedures related to design, health & safety, and quality.
  • Proficiency with engineering office software.
  • Experience supporting design for construction, operation, and refit/repair of submarines or similar facilities.
