Job description

Recovery Worker

Location: Ansdell, Lancashire

Salary: £24,570 per annum

Sleep-in shifts are paid at a rate of £70.47 (9-hour sleep payment) per night

Permanent, 37.5 hours per week

You’re caring, flexible, and creative. You thrive under pressure, know how to connect with people at all levels, and genuinely enjoy helping others live as independently as possible. Join Waythrough’s Windsor Road as a Recovery Worker.

Windsor Road offers 11 beds for individuals experiencing mental ill health. We are a CQC-registered residential care home providing individual interventions and sessions such as social anxiety, anxiety management, finance and budgeting, self-esteem building, support with diet and nutrition, sleep hygiene, DBT skills, resilience, life skills, and stress management. Our activities include a daily coffee morning, 'here and now' groups, community gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, social inclusion events, and family and friends’ days.

We support residents with daily living skills, including shopping and cleaning, providing prompts or support as needed. We are registered for personal care and assist residents with this when required. Our team collaborates closely with other agencies and care teams, necessitating good communication skills. All activities are documented in our information management systems, so record-keeping skills are essential. Our team comprises 8 24/7 Recovery Workers, a Service Manager, and a Registered Manager.

We recognize that recovery varies for each individual. With the right support at the right time, recovery is achievable. As a Recovery Worker, you will help and inspire service users to achieve independence, develop person-centered support plans, and work towards their goals—whether developing domestic skills, managing finances, or accessing work, volunteering, or educational opportunities.

Experience in care homes, mental health support, or social care is preferred. You will need to administer medication, complete a medication qualification, and hold the care certificate. Knowledge of mental health issues or lived experience is welcomed. Your caring, compassionate, empathetic, and enthusiastic nature is more important. You should be comfortable working independently and in a team, willing to participate in a weekly rota, and available for on-call duties and sleep-in shifts.

The post holder will be required to work at least one sleep-in shift per week.
