Job Description:

Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Telent is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within designated motorway areas including the top of M25, M4, M11, and the bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M). This role involves supporting the infrastructure that enables everyday transportation and communication technologies.

The role requires working with a team to deliver and supervise maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works, helping to keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities:

1. Attending cable breaks and repairing copper and fibre cables to ensure network functionality.
2. Completing equipment commissioning to standards, on time and within budget.
3. Addressing equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
4. Performing general maintenance and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
5. Completing documentation related to tasks promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments. Key skills include:

• Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Availability for overtime or callouts as required.
• Full UK driving license.
