Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a collaborative electrical maintenance professional for our AWS Data Center team. This role involves serving as the on-site maintenance technician and operator, responsible for maintaining electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) ensures mission-critical systems operate with over 99.999% uptime, supporting innovation and operational cost reduction.

The EOT acts as the front line for troubleshooting and operating electrical and mechanical equipment, including standby diesel generators, switchboards, UPS systems, PDU's, HVAC units, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. This role does not require shift work.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
  2. Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within SLAs.
  3. Perform maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC preventive maintenance, and rack power installations.
  4. Support Data Centre Operations technicians.
  5. Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  6. Adhere to all safety procedures during work.
  7. Take daily operational readings of equipment parameters.
  8. Manage workflows and spare parts using internal CMMS.
  9. Supervise contractors performing maintenance.
  10. Respond to emergency calls as per on-call rotation.
  11. Follow physical security procedures and policies.
Qualifications

Basic:

  • Ability to work in cramped or elevated locations with or without accommodations.
  • Technical training or relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational tools.

Preferred:

  • 4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience and relevant degree.
  • Knowledge of network design, low voltage cabling, BMS, EPMS, and maintenance management software.
  • Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and ability to pass driving record check.
