Job description

The Clinical Director will be accountable to the Divisional Director for the operational performance of the Clinical Directorate. This is a key operational role within the Division, leading the Clinical Directorate to ensure patient-focused services and achievement of national and local targets and standards.

The post holder will provide visible leadership to all staff within the Clinical Directorate and support the Divisional Director in delivering the strategic plan for the Division.

The post holder will collaborate with the Divisional Director to ensure the Clinical Directorate meets its objectives.

The Clinical Director will lead a triumvirate comprising the CD, Operational Service Manager (OSM), and Directorate Matron(s), with line management responsibility for both the OSM and Matrons. This team will work with Service Leads, nursing, administration, and Allied Health Professionals to deliver Directorate priorities.

The post holder will also work with the Divisional Medical Director and Deputy Divisional Medical Director (Children) to promote high-quality patient care and a strong culture of safety and Clinical Governance.

5. Achieving financial targets, including income, expenditure, and cost improvements.
6. Embedding governance, ensuring staff understand their responsibilities for safety and quality, and monitoring clinical outcomes.
7. Optimizing use of facilities to meet contract demands.
8. Meeting CQC standards across safety, caring, responsiveness, effectiveness, and leadership.

Working for our organisation

The Division comprises six clinical directorates supported by a team of professionals, including Operational Service Managers, Matrons, AHPs, Scientists, and Pharmacists. The division collaborates with local health and social care providers to deliver high standards of care and treatment.
