Job description

DEUTSCHE WINDTECHNIK is Germany’s largest independent service provider offering comprehensive services for Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) from a single source. With over 6,600 WTGs under contract and more than 1,800 employees across several European countries, Deutsche Windtechnik sets the standard in the wind energy sector.

Since entering the UK market in 2015, Deutsche Windtechnik has over 640 WTGs and 700MW under service and maintenance contracts, aiming to expand further. The UK head office is located in Livingston.

You will work closely with all UK departments and group companies to ensure high service standards. While most work will be in the UK, occasional travel to Germany and other group countries may be required.

Our mission is to prioritize our people and provide customers with alternatives outside traditional OEM services. Our vision is to be the preferred independent service provider for wind farm owners and operators by ensuring our services are safe, efficient, compliant, and first-time right.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform routine preventative maintenance on wind turbines, including mechanical, electrical, gearbox, and hydraulic systems.
  2. Carry out unscheduled maintenance, retrofits, emergency breakdown repairs, and major component exchanges.
  3. Lead a team of technicians, ensuring safety procedures are followed.
  4. Replace major turbine components such as generators and gearboxes.
  5. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  6. Assist in site operations and ensure safe access and egress.
  7. Maintain safety standards and comply with site rules.
  8. Report incidents and participate in training and on-call duties.
Minimum Requirements:
  • SVQ/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical, mechanical, or relevant experience.
  • At least two years of hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical experience in heavy engineering environments.
  • Valid driving license.
Preferred Attributes and Skills:
  • Health and safety certifications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability.
  • Willingness to work at heights, in adverse weather, and travel occasionally.
Additional Requirements:
  • Pass pre-employment medical and fitness tests.
  • Provide right to work documentation and relevant qualifications.
Benefits:
  • 32 days annual leave, increasing with service.
  • Private health insurance, pension, life assurance, and Employee Assistance Programme.
