Job description

This will be a key role within my client's technical department to support an audit practice that consistently delivers high quality audits and technical content.

The role offers the opportunity not only to provide technical advice and support on a wide range of accounting and auditing issues but also to be directly involved in producing and delivering training for the firm's people.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. To provide high quality technical advice on the application of international and UK accounting standards, including addressing ad-hoc technical queries and preparing technical guidance material.
  2. To provide advice on the application of auditing standards and assist in developing and reviewing audit methodology and recommending improvements.
  3. To assist in the preparation and presentation of training courses on auditing and financial reporting matters. This will include preparing material for regular technical update courses and ad hoc training on auditing and financial reporting 'hot topics' and delivering sessions on these courses.
  4. Assisting in performing cold file reviews of audit files.
  5. Assisting with the completion of audit and technical related Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).
  6. Research new and emerging technical issues.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:
  1. ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
  2. Strong technical skills in both UK GAAP (FRS 102) and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  3. The role would suit someone either already working in a technical role or currently working in audit with an interest in technical and training matters.
  4. Experience in working with AIM listed companies and / or Public Interest Entities (PIEs) would be an advantage.
  5. Some experience in data analytics/ audit software would also be an advantage, although again this is not essential.
  6. Organised and proactive in approach.
