Job Description

To be responsible for delivering a range of housing and property repairs and contracts as directed by the Heating/Electrical Manager. Ensure all works are completed to a high standard, within target, and resources are deployed efficiently and effectively, with transparency and robustness.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Heating/Electrical Manager and manage housing and property repairs and contracts.
  2. Oversee electrical teams, ensuring resource deployment is efficient and cost-effective.
  3. Liaise with external bodies such as NICEIC, SELECT, SJIB & SECTT, or other registration bodies as required.
  4. Conduct post-audits of electrical work per NICEIC requirements and sign off Electrical Certification as a NICEIC Qualified Supervisor on behalf of Moray Council.
  5. Inspect electrical installations to ensure compliance with BS7671 and NICEIC standards.
  6. Drive continuous improvement by identifying performance strengths and areas for development.
  7. Ensure customer care is prioritized by electrical staff, aligning with Council policy.
  8. Support the development of Building Services health and safety policies and procedures.
  9. Manage buildings, vehicles, and plant under the electrical team’s control.
  10. Undertake training and staff development as required.
The Individual
  • NICEIC Qualified Supervisor.
  • Experience in supervisory/management roles in construction/maintenance.
  • Understanding of building maintenance works.
  • Electrical qualification at least SVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Effective workforce deployment and contracts management skills.
  • Knowledge of various building trades.
  • Willing to travel within Moray, typically using a car/van, due to rural locations.
  • Sound judgment, initiative, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven leadership in a customer-focused environment.
  • Adaptability to unpredictable work situations and scheduling.
  • Ability to work on-site in construction environments and outside normal hours when necessary.
  • Comfortable working in open plan offices and different locations.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Building Services team at the DLO, employing over 150 staff. Services include building maintenance, improvements, and reactive and planned maintenance for the Council’s properties, including schools, offices, and libraries.

Salary: £41,366.00 (£21.50/hour)
