Project Manager - JD UK (Defend & Protect)
Role Overview:
Managing the delivery of New Stores, Refurbishment, and Acquisition Projects to strict deadlines to support the JD Sports Fashion PLC Group Expansion Programme. The role focuses on new openings, extensions, and refits within the UK and Ireland across all group fascias. It aims to uphold store standards to a market-leading level.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Report to the Senior Project Manager UK & Ireland and liaise with the Property department to manage end-to-end project cycles for new stores, refits, and extensions, ensuring projects meet high standards and deadlines. Coordinate efforts of JD Group Designers, Project teams, and third-party contractors or consultants.
- Develop, monitor, and control the approved capital budgets for each project.
- Liaise with Group health and safety specialists to ensure best practices are followed.
- Support the wider Project Team by delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations as needed.
- Strive for excellence in project and design processes, continually reviewing and improving procedures.
- Manage changes in project scope proactively, identify risks, and devise contingency plans.
- Motivate and liaise with project team members and contractors, encouraging accountability and positive action.
Skills, Experience, and Knowledge Needed:
- Experience in Construction/Retail Fit Out: Knowledge of shop fit industry processes, project management, and managing projects within strict budgets.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects across various fascias, ensuring they stay on budget and are delivered on time and to high standards.
- Excellent Communication & Influencing Skills: Effectively communicate with stakeholders across departments.
- Numerate with strong attention to detail.
- Qualifications: University degree or college diploma in Project Management or equivalent experience.
- This is a field-based role; geographic mobility is required to support store portfolio.
- Self-motivated team player.
- Technical proficiency with various software programs.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines through analytical and problem-solving skills.
- React promptly and efficiently to project changes.
- Flexible during times of change and willing to work flexible hours as needed.
- Extensive travel and periods away from home may be required.
- Based throughout the UK and Ireland.
- Full Driving Licence essential.
