An established industry player in mental health services is seeking an Educational Wellbeing Practitioner to join their innovative Mental Health Support Team. This role involves collaborating with schools to provide tailored mental health interventions, promoting resilience and wellbeing among children and young people. You'll work closely with experienced colleagues, engaging directly with students and families to deliver vital support. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop professionally within a reputable organization, contributing to meaningful change in the lives of young people while enjoying access to training and research opportunities.
The MHSTs are a new service aimed at addressing the mental health needs of children and young people within educational settings. They comprise senior clinicians, CAMHS Practitioners, and Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), also known as Education Wellbeing Practitioners (EWPs) within the SLaM Trust.
The MHST operates across educational environments as part of a whole-system approach to promote resilience and wellbeing, support early intervention, facilitate appropriate signposting, and deliver evidence-based support and interventions. The team collaborates with educational settings to tailor services based on individual school needs and works alongside existing mental health and wellbeing services, including counselling, educational psychology, school nurses, pastoral care, educational welfare officers, VCSEs, local authorities, children’s social care, and NHS CYPMHS. This work is primarily supported and delivered through the EWP role.
The post holder will be based in a small MHST Hub, working with a cluster of schools and experienced colleagues to plan and deliver direct interventions to children and parents, as well as engaging in activities such as class sessions, assemblies, welcome events, coffee mornings, and access events.
Responsibilities include working with schools both remotely and face-to-face to deliver low-level Guided Self-Help to young people and families across various educational settings within the Lewisham school clusters, remotely from home, and at Lewisham CAMHS.
EWPs are key members of the Mental Health Support Team, responsible for implementing a whole-school approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing for children and young people.
