Role: Lecturer – Hairdressing and Barbering

Location: Tresham College – Kettering and Corby Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary from £31,930 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Hairdressing and Barbering to join our Hair and Beauty department at The Bedford College Group .

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

• Teaching & Student Development – Deliver high-quality Hairdressing and Barbering lessons across various levels, supporting students to achieve their full potential through engaging and inclusive teaching.
• Assessment & Progress Monitoring – Assess student work to awarding body standards, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records of progress, taking action to support student achievement.
• Curriculum & Resource Development – Contribute to curriculum innovation, develop engaging learning materials, and ensure learning environments are inclusive, diverse, and meet health and safety standards.
• Collaboration & Administration – Work with colleagues and support staff to enhance learning experiences, manage classroom behaviour, and complete administrative tasks such as registers and reports.
• Safeguarding & Professional Growth – Uphold responsibilities in safeguarding, equality, and health and safety, while actively engaging in CPD and training to stay current in industry and teaching practices.

About you:

• Qualifications & Industry Experience – Holds Level 3 Hairdressing and Level 2/3 Barbering qualifications, assessor and teaching credentials, with recent industry experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Teaching & Curriculum Skills – Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching, prepare lesson plans and schemes of work, track student progress, and manage behaviour across various levels and age groups.
• Professional Values & Teamwork – Demonstrates alignment with values such as Student Centred, Inclusive, and Educational Excellence, while contributing positively to team goals and respecting diverse perspectives.
• Communication & Organisation – Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate confidently across platforms and manage time and tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
