Finance Manager - Europe Reporting

Responsible to: Financial Controller North Europe

Department: Finance

Location: JD Group Head Office, Bury, Greater Manchester, BL9 8RR

Role Overview:

This key role within the Europe Reporting Team and the overall JD Finance Team involves producing comprehensive management accounts across multiple countries and companies, including P&L and balance sheet analysis for management review. The role includes preparing statutory accounts in line with local GAAP and managing external audits to completion. The position manages a team of two to meet group deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reports, analyze variances and trends.
• Create monthly reporting packs with analysis and commentary for presentation to senior management.
• Ensure accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations with sign-off procedures.
• Develop balance sheet and cash flow packs with KPI summaries.
• Review and improve processes related to purchase ledger, banking, and trade receivables, ensuring controls are in place.
• Assist in generating reports for the monthly Group Board Pack.
• Calculate provisions for half-year and year-end closing.
• Handle statutory reporting for the region, including national statistics and intra-statistics.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting activities.
• Act as key contact for AP, AR, and treasury teams within the region.
• Plan and manage year-end audits.
• Prepare annual statutory accounts according to local GAAP, including management reports.
• Oversee annual company account filings.
• Serve as the main contact for VAT and tax submissions, queries, and audits.
• Proactively resolve financial queries.

Skills, Experience, and Knowledge:

• CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualified accountant.
• Retail experience is advantageous.
• Essential experience in management accounts and core finance functions.
• Advanced Excel skills; TM1 experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Positive, flexible, enthusiastic, and driven attitude.
